Marketing, NotchUp Style

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

The newest buzz in the arena of online job searches has found a new home and a new strategy at the NotchUp website. But who really benefits from this site? Is it the employer, the job seeker, or just the site itself?

Notchup has an interesting sales strategy that has many people scratching their heads and wondering exactly how successful it will become.

For consumers, this site appears to present a huge array of opportunities that otherwise would not be available. The basic concept is that Notchup partners with major companies and corporations and facilitates a payment to individuals who choose to interview with them.

Yes, you heard that right. Notchup’s partners pay you to interview with them. All you do is upload your resume and profile, and the employers will be knocking down your door in no time! And they’ll be handing you money to boot!

At least that’s the concept.

There’s something a little confusing about this though – especially in today’s job market. Granted the job market is highly competitive. But the unemployment rate is also climbing as companies consolidate, and acquisitions force highly talented people out of the workforce every day. So why would companies pay you just to accept an interview with them?

Time will tell if this strategy works because it will quickly sweep the internet if it succeeds. While you’re waiting for your calls from Notchup, you might want to get a ‘notchup’ on the competition by dusting off your resume and proactively seeking opportunities where you want to work!

Time will tell who really benefits from Notchup.com.
