Dallas Restaurant Jobs to Expand

More Dallas restaurant jobs (http://benchmarkinwestlake.com) should soon be created as a prominent indicator shows growth in the industry.

During September, the National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Performance Index increased by .7 percent to 100.1, which is the highest level since June. Any level above 100 signifies growth and expansion in the restaurant industry.

“The September increase in the Restaurant Performance Index was fueled by improvements in the same-store sales and customer traffic indicators,” Hudson Riehle, senior vice president of the research and knowledge group for the NRA, said in a statement.

Dallas Hospitality Jobs Among Yearly Gains

Dallas hospitality jobs are among those continuing to look for stability in the short-term, but faring better in the longrun.

During July, the Dallas area’s unemployment rate remained at 8.7 percent for the second month in a row, after climbing from 7.9 percent the previous month. The area’s rate was still lower than the national average at the time of 9.1 percent.

The Dallas-Plano-Irving area employed a total of 2,062,100 workers during July, which is 2,077,900 workers during June, but a 2.3 percent increase from last year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Dallas Construction Jobs Supported by New Hotel Project

The construction of a new hotel will support many Dallas construction jobs.

Magnolia Lodging Development is planning to build a new Home 2 Suites by Hilton on 3 acres of land near Stonebriar Centre Mall in Frisco, a suburb located about 28 miles from Dallas. The development company is locally-based.

The new four-story project will be located near State Highway 121 and Parkwood Boulevard. Although the exact details of the development and construction costs were not released, Home 2 hotels generally cost anywhere from $12 million to $15 million to develop, according to the Dallas Business Journal.

Sales Careers Dallas Support Auto Industry Growth

The Freeman Auto Report found that sales of new cars and trucks in North Texas increased by 8.4 percent during 2010. That growth in sales, along with more increases expected this year, is supporting the creation of more employment opportunities in the industry.

The report found that sales in Dallas County were up by 14.7 percent, while sales in Collin County grew by 17.1 percent, but both of those increases were offset by single-digit growth in Denton and Tarrant counties.
