Denver Colorado Jobs Recognized for Seafood Sustainability

A handful of grocery stores that support Denver Colorado jobs (Click here) are being recognized for their seafood sustainability efforts.

Greenpeace International recently released the Supermarket Seafood Sustainability Scorecard as part of the organization’s “Casting Away the Oceans” report. The scorecard is aimed at identifying supermarkets that are doing their part to sustain the world fish population.

The Kroger Company – which operates many stores throughout Colorado, supporting City Market and King Soopers jobs – was named 15th on the list. Safeway, which is one of the largest grocery stores in the state, was ranked first, while Costco was ranked 11th and Walmart was ranked 13th.

Jobs in Denver Benefit from Minimum Wage Increases

Those with minimum wage jobs in Denver should start seeing a little more money in their paychecks this year.

Colorado was one of seven states to increase minimum wage at the beginning of this year in an effort to accommodate the increasing cost of living and rise in consumer spending. Arizona, Montana, Ohio, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington were the other states to do so.

These increases, which range from nine to 12 cents, will ultimately help hundreds of thousands of people make a better living for themselves. Everyone from those with market jobs and sales positions to those with construction work and manufacturing occupations will benefit from the increases.

Denver Tech Jobs from the Clean Air-Clean Jobs Act

Many Denver tech jobs could soon be created thanks to a statewide clean jobs act.

Xcel Energy recently achieved the first major milestone for Colorado’s Clean Air-Clean Jobs Act by submitting a plan to replace old and inefficient coal-fired power plants with cleaner sources – the first plan of this kind in the nation.

The Clean Air-Clean Jobs Act was signed into law earlier this year in an effort to save residents hundreds of millions of dollars through a plan specific to Colorado as opposed to a federally-imposed plan to reduce emissions.
