Family Counselors Can Now Earn a Doctorate

James Madison University is planning to offer a new doctorate program in counseling and supervision. The unique program, which was approved by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, will become one of less than 60 counseling doctoral programs in the nation.

The program will prepare students to become qualified counselors and to train master’s level students. Applicants are required to already have a master’s degree and complete at least 108 credit hours of graduate work before receiving their Ph.D.
