Las Vegas Nursing Jobs Program In Danger

Those preparing for Las Vegas nursing jobs at one local institution could soon be gravely effected by cost cutting measures.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is currently facing significant budget cuts, and although the School of Nursing is one of the most successful programs on campus, it has become a target for cuts – or worse – elimination.

During 2009, 96 percent of the school’s nursing students passed the National Certification Licensure Examination, which is 7 percent higher than the national average. However, the program is being considered for cuts because it’s one of the more expensive academic programs at UNLV.

San Diego Medical Jobs

There are plenty of hospitals where those looking for San Diego medical jobs may be able to find work.

The healthcare industry as a whole has remained stable – continually adding jobs and growing in popularity and necessity – despite the economic recession. Although San Diego’s healthcare industry has lost some workers on a yearly basis, it has been growing month-to-month.

The San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos area’s education and health services industry employed 137,200 workers during December 2009, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is up from 137,000 workers during November, but a .4 percent decrease from December 2008.

Atlanta IT Jobs Ranked 10th Best

A new report has ranked Atlanta IT jobs among the best in the country.

Many officials and economic experts are touting that the economic recession is over and America is entering a period of economic recovery. One sign conducive to this is that some of the largest cities in the country are seeing an increase in demand for IT professionals.

NetworkWorld.com recently released a list of the top 10 cities for IT job seekers. The list compiled the need for IT professionals as reported by Dice, salary information as reported by PayScale, and reasons why IT professionals may want to search for work in the city.

Pittsburgh Nursing Jobs

When it comes to Pittsburgh nursing jobs, registered nursing is one of the most promising occupations.

According to Pennsylvania Workforce Development, registered nurses are considered a high priority occupation in the healthcare industry. Employment throughout the State of Pennsylvania is expected to grow from 121,150 workers during 2002 to 136,910 workers during 2012, accounting for a 13 percent increase and 4,111 available jobs each year.

Pittsburgh’s education and health services industry employed 237,100 workers during December 2009, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. Although this is a decrease from 238,000 workers during November, it is a .7 percent increase from December 2008.

Los Angeles Education Jobs

Those considering Los Angeles education jobs have plenty to choose from.

The Los Angeles-Long Beach-Glendale area’s education and health services industry employed 520,200 workers during December 2009, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is down from 520,600 workers during November, but a 1.9 percent increase from December 2008.

Educators in the area can expect to be paid relatively well. According to Salary.com, public school teachers in Los Angeles receive an average pay between $49,339 per year and $65,537 per year.

Fort Lauderdale Teaching Jobs Safe for Now

Although the local school district is planning to eliminate hundreds of positions, Fort Lauderdale teaching jobs will remain safe, at least for the time being.

Broward County Public Schools recently announced that up to 475 jobs could be cut from the district’s facilities and maintenance divisions. The layoffs are part of the School Board’s attempt to reduce the district’s $1 billion capital budget by $47 million. That budget pays for construction projects, major purchases and the salaries of most people in the facilities and maintenance divisions.

The district is looking at other measures to avoid cutting that many jobs, including selling surplus properties and backing out of design contracts on projects that are still in planning stages. However, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, it is still expected that some people will lose their jobs, regardless of any additional initiatives taken by the district.

Dallas Medical Jobs

Anyone looking for a career in the healthcare industry could benefit from obtaining Dallas medical jobs.

The healthcare industry is one of the few that has remained stable across the board despite the economic recession. During December 2009, the healthcare industry throughout the nation employed 16.4 million people and had an unemployment rate of 5.5 percent.

The Dallas-Plano-Irving area’s education and health services industry employed 255,500 workers during November 2009, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is up from 254,900 workers during October and a 9 percent increase from November 2008.

Arizona State Jobs Created by Tower Automotive

One company’s decision to open a new solar manufacturing plant will help to create Arizona state jobs.

Gov. Jan Brewer recently announced that Tower Automotive plans to build its solar component manufacturing plant in the Phoenix metro area, a move that will create up to 200 new jobs.

“This is a significant win for Arizona in that it advances our competitive position in the global market and further establishes Arizona’s foothold in the solar industry,” Brewer said. “My goal is to land the top solar manufacturers in the world; creating jobs that put Arizonans back to work and help Arizona families get back on their feet.”

Colorado State Jobs Saved by Loan Program

A new program is providing loans to help companies save and create Colorado state jobs (Click here).

Gov. Bill Ritter recently announced that 42 additional small businesses have obtained loans through the Colorado Credit Reserve Program since an initial round of loans were handed out during the fall of 2009.

“Colorado is the poster child for how important small businesses are,” Ritter said. “They are the backbone of our economy and the engine that drives job-creation across the state. With the economy still struggling, one of the biggest challenges for small businesses remains access to credit. This program is providing vital loans to help small businesses survive, thrive and save and create jobs.”

Jobs in Orlando Florida Out of Training Funds

Those looking to receive training for jobs in Orlando Florida may be out of luck until the middle of the year.

Workforce Central Florida recently announced that it has run out of money for training scholarships, which were partly funded by $4 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. WCF serves as the area’s publicly funded job-service agency.

The scholarships are given to unemployed workers so they can be trained for jobs that are in high-demand, such as healthcare and technology positions. Scholarship recipients can use the money at local colleges or schools specializing in adult education.
