One of the most prominent local employers is cutting some jobs in Mesa.
The Boeing Company recently announced that it will layoff about 1,100 employees by the end of 2012. The majority of those employees work on building the company’s C-17 Globemaster II airlifters, which will soon see production cut to about 10 per year, according to the Phoenix Business Journal.
The majority of the job cuts, about 900 positions, will take place at Boeing’s plant in Long Beach, Calif. The remaining 200 jobs will be cut from the company’s operations in Mesa, Ariz.; St. Louis, Mo.; and Macon, Ga. Some of the affected employees will be offered other positions with Boeing.
