The number of Milwaukee jobs (Click here) lost during the last year ranks the city among the worst in the country.
The U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics recently reported that the Milwaukee area has lost 50,700 jobs, or 5.92 percent of the city’s employment, since last year. The report ranked the Milwaukee area 30th in the country for percentage of jobs lost and 20th in the country for the actual number of jobs lost.
During the last year, only three markets managed to add more than 1,000 jobs. The McAllen-Edinburg area in Texas added 4,400 jobs, followed by the Kennewick-Pasco area in Washington, adding 3,400 jobs, and Ocean City, N.J., adding 2,700 jobs.
