More Dallas restaurant jobs (http://benchmarkinwestlake.com) should soon be created as a prominent indicator shows growth in the industry.
During September, the National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Performance Index increased by .7 percent to 100.1, which is the highest level since June. Any level above 100 signifies growth and expansion in the restaurant industry.
“The September increase in the Restaurant Performance Index was fueled by improvements in the same-store sales and customer traffic indicators,” Hudson Riehle, senior vice president of the research and knowledge group for the NRA, said in a statement.
“Among the forward-looking indicators, restaurant operators are more optimistic about sales growth in the months ahead, while their outlook for the overall economy remains cloudy” Riehle added.
The Restaurant Performance Index is made up of two parts – the Current Situation Index, which increased by .8 percent to 100.1 during September, and the Expectations Index, which rose by .7 percent to 100.2.
The report further found:
- 50 percent of restaurant owners reported stronger same-store sales over the last year.
- 43 percent of owners saw higher customer traffic between September 2010 and September 2011.
- 43 percent of operators made a capital expenditure for equipment, expansion, or remodeling during the last quarter.
- 37 percent of restaurant owners expect to see higher sales in the next six months.
- 22 percent of operators expect economic conditions to improve in the coming months.
