Layoffs Making Impact on Dallas Employment

As the housing market continues it’s less than desirable state, working American’s are effected. The first one’s to bare the burn were real estate agents who live almost solely off of commissions earned through the sale of new and existing properties.

Next to follow were those employed by mortgage and lending firms. As fewer individuals sought to purchase new homes, many lenders reduced their staff numbers in hopes of cutting corners in an effort to be more profitable. Also effected by the housing slump have been construction workers and home manufactures.

Layoffs Looming in Dallas

According to Forbes.com, Dallas, Texas is one of the fastest growing cities in America. Many people are moving from expensive metropolitan areas such as New You, lured to the area by lower taxes, comparatively affordable housing, and jobs in Dallas.

Despite this good news, there will soon be several layoffs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Several Technical firms are expecting to be decreasing the number of individuals employed by them. SI International Inc. plans to cut 215 Dallas jobs by the end of November due to the expiration of one of the company’s contracts. These jobs maybe saved if the worker’s abilities are able to transfer to another contract that will begin in December. SI International Inc. provides support services for the Department of Homeland Security and Citizenship and Immigration.
